Late summer has arrived in the Smoky Mountains and some activities in the area will slow down while others are just beginning.  The onset of the harvest season brings a whole new level of beauty to the area as the businesses decorate for fall and autumn activities fill the communities. The days may shorten, but the cool air is welcome for those evening firepits and get togethers.

One big highlight of August in the area is the Celebrate Freedom celebration in Pigeon Forge.  This celebration is all about our veterans.  The community throughout offers discounts to our veterans and welcome them throughout with thanks and celebration.  One comment we hear about the area over and over is how well veterans are treated throughout.  Many thanks for your service comments from employees at attractions, amusements, shops and dining and often a discount when asked.  The Celebrate Freedom celebration in Pigeon Forge is held from August 1 - 31st.

The other big event that happens in August in the Smokies is the Big JEEP INVASION!  The Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion will fill the streets and the stores, the restaurants and the cabins with folks here to celebrate and show off their Jeeps. 2026 is the 14th annual gathering and it is sure to bring many visitors to the area from September 19th through the 23rd.  September 19th, Gatlinburg hosts a kick off ride in which 150 jeeps are allowed for entry so enter now!  The Expo will be held at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge from September 21-23rd.

Wednesdays continue as vehicle free days in Cades Cove and is a great time to explore the area from your bike!  Wednesdays no motor vehicles are allowed on the loop for the entire day.  Now through September 30th.

We hope that gives you an idea of the many wonderful events and happenings in the area for August.
